The Past in Plain Site
Wheat farming dominated the 1800's landscape and it's still here to see the reminensce of a bygone era.

Sir Ivor Hele
OBE, CBE, 5 times Archibald prize winner, 3 times Melrose prize winner. He painted portraits of at least 3 Prime Ministers, Sir William Mcmahon, Sir Robert Menzies and Malcolm Fraser. A legend of Aldinga, Sir Ivor's story is one that shouldn't be allowed to fade. Click his picture and follow the link below to find out more information.

TDU Summary
I love this pic. Positioned on the corner of Port and Quinliven roads gave a close up view as the riders prepared to take the left hand corner heading back into Aldinga . With the TV camera in hot pursuit, a casual local watching on and an Australian flag on the parked car, for me, this pic summed up what the tour brings to the Willunga Basin. For this reason I've included it on my portfolio page. Click the link below to see my portfolio and click the subscribe to recieve update notifications.

Port rd tree tunnel by day...
Built after world war one as a shelter from the sun for kids walking to school

Port rd tree tunnel by night
What happens in the tunnel, stays in the tunnel:-) This a was a 30sec exposure lit by the spot lights of a four wheel drive.

Glowing History
11:55pm on a week night was the time this was taken. Yep it's what we do to get a photo but I loved the colours of the glowing lights against the street lights. Both buildings are heritage listed and can be found on the Aldinga Heritage page, just click the link below

Where Magic Happens
I was hoping for a red sunrise photo for this rusty shed. I managed a pic on a rainy afternoon on the way home from work!

Autumn Splash
Old South road still turns on the charm of yesteryear

Layers
This pure white house, nestled in the vines, has always captivated me. And yes, it is in Aldinga across the road from OTR.

Aldinga War Memorial
Aldinga's new war memorial on Port Rd

Temperance Precinct, Aldinga
The Temperance Hotel was and still is a charming meeting place since the mid 1800's.

Aldinga Football Club
The home of the Sharks. An Aldinga institution.

Uniting Church Aldinga circa 1863
A place of worship for many and a cemetary that is home to the resting place of many founding families of the area.

Flour Mill Road, Aldinga
You want history? This is the area to explore. Flour Mill road was part of the original corridor which ran from Willunga, through Whites Valley, Aldinga to Port Willunga where goods were to be shipped around the world.

Nature's Golden Arch
Got to love a tree tunnel. This one on flour mill rd is one of my favourites in the area.

Aldinga Airfield
Never talked about but the planes buzz the skies regularly. It's a great place to get up and personal with some great aircraft.

Splash of Colour 2
The Rustic restaurant is aptly titled seeing it is housed in a heritage listed building that used to be a bank. The tree across the road lives up to the name of its neighbour during the autumn months.

Aldinga's Tunnel of Love
2025 Tour Down Under Peleton was an powerful sight rolling through the tree tunnel on Port rd.

Blacksmiths Hub
A beautiful cafe now was home to the Pengilly Blacksmiths during the 1800's

Flash in the night
A 30 second exposure witha cars headlight providing the light produced different view of the Port rd tree tunnel

Spanish Pride - Aldinga
Old Coach rd saw a very proud Spaniard park up and get out his colours a sthe Tour Down Under peleton rolled out of Aldinga.

Aldinga Footy Club
Love this pic of Kade playing football for Aldinga football club with the Willunga Hills as the backdrop.
